Khurram Coin Sold for INR 12, 00,000

A Silver Rupee of Shah Jahan coin was sold at hammer price INR 12, 00,000 in Todywalla Auctions held on 3rd February 2016.This coin comes with the legend ‘khurram’ which is pre-accession name of Shah Jahan. Full name of Shah Jahan was Shihab-ud-Din Muhammad Khurram. When Jahangir died at Lahore in the year 1037(Hijri year), Khurram was announced as the next emperor. Coin which was struck during the Hijri year 1037 comes with his pre-accession name “Khurram”.
This Silver rupee coin weighs around 11.4gm. The obverse of the coin has the inscription “Abul Muzaffar nasir ud-Din Muhammad Shah Jahan Khurram badshah ghazi” while the reverse of the coin is inscribed with the Kalima “La ila ila Allah, Muhammad Rasul Allah”, and the date "Sanah Julus 1037" with the mint name ” Zarb Lahore”.
